Jan has been writing stories ever since she won the Tall Tale Tellers Contest in Mrs. Sarah Blower’s fourth grade class at East Elementary School in Athens, Ohio. Now she writes stories about people and animals who have touched her heart and life.

Her book, FOREVER, is the true story of the night she met a young African American boy living in foster care. That dear boy would eventually become her son. Jan had always dreamed of creating a family through adoption and her vision became a reality in 1999. The books in her 9 LIVES Trilogy were inspired by their journey together. In 2020, she combined those books into one updated version titled, They Call Me CAT.

Now Jan writes heartwarming, illustrated children’s books about the special animals on her small farm. She is happily married and lives on a rural island in Washington state. She invites you to follow her on Facebook, Instagram and BookBub. She would love to hear from you and can be reached at jan@jancrossenauthor.com.
